Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Musica
Summary
In this blog post, I am going to present key principles of music throughout your life.
What Music do you like
It’s better to give a thoughtful answer when asked about your music preferences, instead of saying “I like everything.” It would be more preferable for you to provide a thoughtful response that reflects careful consideration. e.g.
- I have always liked mainstream pop music through my life.
- In my teens I also enjoyed Reggae first and then Rock and Metal
- In my adult years I started to enjoy hiphop
- I enjoy listening to strong vocals
What you dislike
Sometimes it’s useful to know what you dislike
- There are genres I generally dislike like country
What I don’t know
- There are also genres I have never heard e.g. Opera, Symphony.
What do you really like?
To truly understand your preferences in artists and genres, it’s essential to reflect on playlists you have listened to over the years.
Living in the past
It’s bizarre how some people attach their identity to the past. I have a few friends who are infatuated with romanticized versions of their great achievements from years and years gone by. Far-fetched stories that bear no relationship to their present selves lol.
It seems that people can be exactly the same when it comes to music as well.
Why have you stopped listening to new music?
- Most people stop listening to new music at a certain age. That age is probably between 22-28
- Once you reach this age you will claim that the music you used to listen to is the best
- You will also insist all other music is crap and inferior to the music of the past
Sad and pathetic lol
Why you should always be listening to new music
Music acts as different bookmarks in you lifetime
- And that’s one compelling reason why you should listen to new content through the years
Music reinforces shared memories
- Moments with loved ones, times you want to remember
There is so much amazing new content
- What a whucen stupid notion that new music is not as good as old content. The musician talent pool doubles each generation and each generation learns and improves from the previous
Most music is sh!t
- Most music produced is shit! Every whucken album I have ever brought has produced 1 good song! Maybe 2 if I am lucky!
Most Artists are only good at producing music
Isn’t it strange that we revere artists as intelligent when most of them are only capable within a single narrow band of musical skill.
- Generally speaking I have no interest in an artist’s personal life and I don’t (or try not to) moralise or judge them simply because I just don’t care enough about them that way. I only enjoy their product.
- A lot of them I dislike their ideology, and their politics
